Ludwick officially put on DL; Cardinals call up Jay

Baseball Betting Lines

07/03/2010 - St. Louis, MO (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Cardinals outfielder Ryan Ludwick was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 26, on Saturday.

Ludwick hasn't seen the field since June 25 after suffering a right calf strain three days earlier in a game against Toronto. He apparently re-injured himself while jogging on a treadmill.

In 71 games this season, Ludwick is batting .273 with 11 home runs and 42 runs batted in.

To fill his spot on the roster, St. Louis recalled Jon Jay from Triple-A Memphis. Jay was hitting .321 with four homers and 32 RBI in Memphis and was a perfect 13-for-13 on steal attempts. He is making his second trip to the big leagues this year, having hit .302 with one homer and four RBI in 26 games for the Cardinals between April 26 and June 4.

Kurt Warner to start, Matt Leinart to watch

Despite the debate that's swirling , Kurt Warner will remain the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, coach Dennis Green said today. The Arizona Cardinals are the +7 point underdog at online sportsbook MySportsbook.com for this Sunday's game.

Green's comment came in a statement released by the team following an ESPN report that Green decided that rookie Matt Leinart would replace Warner as starter for Sunday's game at Atlanta.

"Generally talking about the starting lineup is not something we do," Green told the AP. "However, given the speculation that was out there we want to make it clear. We're disappointed after last week, but we still expect to be a playoff football team and we fully expect Kurt Warner to be the quarterback that leads us. That has not changed."
