05/13/2010 - Baltimore, MD (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Luke Scott hit his second career grand slam in the eighth inning to help the Baltimore Orioles take a 6-5 win over the Seattle Mariners in the finale of a three-game set at Camden Yards.
Corey Patterson hit a solo home run while Ty Wigginton went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Orioles, who won the last two games of the series after dropping the opener.
Kevin Millwood went 6 2/3 innings in the start and was charged with five runs on seven hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Mark Hendrickson (1-0) threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings to get the win while Alfredo Simon earned his fifth save of the season.
Ichiro Suzuki went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, while Mike Sweeney and Michael Saunders each added a solo shot for the Mariners, who have won just two of their last 12 games.
Felix Hernandez was superb in the start, as he gave up one run on five hits with two walks and seven strikeouts over seven innings.
Seattle had a four-run lead going into the bottom of the eighth, but it melted away with Brandon League (3-3) on the mound. Patterson crushed a pitch into the right field stands to start the inning. Adam Jones then struck out, but made it to first on a wild strike three. Nick Markakis then singled and, after a fielder's choice groundout from Miguel Tejada, Wigginton walked to load the bases. Scott then stepped to the plate and hit the first pitch he saw over the left-center wall for a 6-5 lead.
Simon took the mound in the ninth and got the first out, but then hit Josh Wilson with a pitch to put the tying run on base. Ken Griffey worked a pinch- hit walk, but Saunders struck out swinging. Suzuki then drove a pitch to left that dropped in, but Patterson came up with the ball, gunned it to home and Craig Tatum applied the tag to Wilson to end the game.
Millwood retired the first nine batters he faced before Suzuki led off the fourth with a single. A sacrifice bunt from Chone Figgins moved Suzuki to second, but Seattle was unable to advance him any further.
Baltimore worked a run across the plate in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Markakis drew a walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. Tejada's groundout advanced Markakis to third and Wigginton followed with a bloop single to right for a 1-0 lead.
Seattle, though, answered with three runs in the fifth. Ryan Langerhans led off with a double and came home three batters later on Saunders' single. Suzuki followed by smacking a 2-0 pitch just over the wall in right-center for a 3-1 lead.
The Mariners made it a 4-1 game in the sixth, when Sweeney hit the first pitch he saw over the center field wall. It was his first homer of the season.
Patterson led off the Baltimore sixth with a double and advanced to third on a Jones groundout, but he was stranded there after Markakis grounded out and Tejada struck out to end the frame.
Saunders' solo homer in the seventh gave Seattle a 5-1 lead.

JUPITER, Fla. -- The Foorida Marlins are preparing for the likelihood that right-hander
Josh Johnson won't be ready when the season starts April 2.
Grapefruit League action starts Wednesday, but Johnson, penciled in as the No. 2 starter, hasn't even thrown off a mound at full speed since September. He's experienced some soreness in his right forearm.
MySportsbook.com have the Marlins listed with baseball betting lines at +800 to win the NL East this season .
''You guys know the math. If he's not on the hill then he becomes an opening day roster issue,'' manager Fredi Gonzalez said Saturday. ''We're borderline now.''
Johnson, who finished 12-7 with a 3.10 ERA in 2007, was supposed to throw on flat ground Saturday. That was canceled when he woke up with pain.
He played catch on Wednesday with no pain but felt discomfort in a throwing session on Thursday. He's expected to try again Sunday.
''Like we always said from the very beginning, we're going to take it easy on him,'' Gonzalez said. ''He didn't feel right, so we shut him down. We're going to take it back to step one and see where we're at.''
Among the candidates to take Johnson's spot in the rotation are left-hander Chris George and right-handers Yusmeiro Petit and Jose Garcia.
Right-hander Sergio Mitre, who missed most of last season with arm and shoulder problems, also is behind.
With Johnson's status doubtful, Gonzalez said right-hander Ricky Nolasco will stay in the rotation and no longer will be considered a candidate for closer.
