Chastain helped the U.S. win the World Cup in 1991 and 1999. She also won two Olympic golds. Chastain played in Women's Professional Soccer for Bay Area's FC Gold Pride in 2009, appearing in 10 games and starting 5 matches during the course of the WPS Inaugural Season. She did not play in WPS this season.

"Brandi's legacy as an icon and ambassador of women's soccer will endure," WPS Commissioner Tonya Antonucci said.
